UCG has a real advantage over other forms of resource recovery.
For Example, part of the Bloodwood Creek trial site, contained within an area of 12 square kilometres with an average seam thickness of 7 meters, is a typical coal deposit for the Surat Basin in South Eastern Australia.
- Coal seam gas will produce less than 60 petajoules of methane.
- Underground longwall mining will produce 800 petajoules in the form of market coal.
- UCG will produce 1300 Petajoules in the form of syngas.
UGC process has the additional advantage of having potential to unlock a huge additional source of energy from coal at a lower cost.
There are companies both here in Australia and overseas who have huge coal deposits that are too deep underground and consequently are not commercially viable to extract by traditional coal mining methods.
These vast deposits can be extracted using Carbon Energy's technology and expertise - not only making this additional energy source available but also its available at a lower cost.
