August - Confirming its primary focus to produce clean energy and chemicals feedstock from UCG Carbon Energy announce the sale of its gold interests in Laverton, Western Australia to Crescent Gold Ltd and the spin-off of its uranium interests into a separate listed energy.

July - Carbon Energy and ZeroGen announce an agreement to begin the first phase of a CO2 injection test program combining Carbon Energy’s UCG technology with ZeroGen’s CO2 injection technology.

July - Carbon Energy’s commercialisation plans take a major step forward with the signing of the first commercial contract with Ergon Energy.

June - Completed pre-feasibility for power generation, synthetic natural gas and chemicals.

March - Results increase energy prodution potential and gas composition is announced.

2008 

 

Memorandum of Understanding exchanged with leading chemical manufacturer Incitec Pivot Ltd whereby Incitec Pivot will subscribe for $11 million in new equity in Metex, and emerge as second largest shareholder holding approximately 10.50% of the Company.

June 2008, Shareholders approve the change of Company name from Metex Resources Ltd to Carbon Energy Ltd (CARBON ENERGY) and the acquisition of the balance of shares in CEPL from CSIRO and Others resulting in CSIRO holding 17.8% of CARBON ENERGY.

September 2008 Carbon Energy included in Standards and Poors S&P/ASX300 with a market capitalisation in excess of A$250 million.

Letter of Intent signed with LyondellBasell Industries group to conduct a pre-feasibility study for a world-scale methanol plant using UCG syngas as feedstock. 

 

2007 

 

Metex completes the requirements to earn a 50% interest in Carbon Energy Pty Ltd (CEPL) by subscribing A$2.5 million in equity.

CEPL announces that it is to undertake a demonstration trial of underground coal gasification (UCG) at Bloodwood Creek located in the Surat Basin, 55 km west of Dalby in southeast Queensland. A resource of 100 million tonnes of high quality coal has been defined at Bloodwood Creek. This resource remains open along strike and down dip and is expected to increase significantly with further drilling.

November 2007 Metex announces that it has reached an agreement with CSIRO and Others for their combined 50% shareholding in CEPL for approximately A$2.4 million together with 103.561 million Metex shares.

Thomas & Coffey appointed construction and project managers for a demonstration trial of a standard 1 petajoule (PJ) per year UCG syngas module at Bloodwood Creek.

Reconnaissance drilling completed on the Company's uranium project at Nyang in the Carnarvon Basin north of Perth in Western Australia returns significant widths and grades consistent with a potential new uranium discovery. 

 

2006 

 

Significant move into new major energy initiatives. The first involves a significant exposure to uranium exploration within Australia and Europe. The second involves the process for the gasification of underground coal deposits in a company (Carbon Energy Pty Ltd) jointly incorporated with the CSIRO and Others. Metex will acquire a 50% interest by subscribing A$2.5 million in equity over a twelve month period.

Successfully lists Magma Metals Ltd on the ASX.
